Stove ring sets: how to choose the right diameter and type

Less
A stove ring set helps you precisely adjust the stove opening to your cookware size. It is especially useful when you want to use smaller-diameter cookware on a stove with a larger opening.
1) Why rings matter
- Stability: cookware sits firmly and does not wobble.
- Better heat efficiency: fewer “empty” gaps where heat escapes.
- Versatility: you can use not only a kazan, but also other smaller cookware.
2) What cookware can be used with ring sets
- Afghan kazan (pressure pot)
- cast iron cauldrons and kazans
- pans
- kettles/pots and other smaller-diameter cookware
3) Ring types: cast iron or steel?
- Cast iron rings: heavier and very stable – hold heat well and seat cookware firmly.
- Steel rings: lighter and practical for everyday use – convenient if you often swap and move rings.
- Cooking result: in both cases, the key is the right diameter and stable seating.
4) How to measure correctly (2 minutes)
- Measure the outer diameter of the top rim of the cookware (kazan/pot).
- If there are handles, do not include them – measure the rim only.
- Match that diameter to the ring so the cookware sits stable.
5) Common mistakes
- Choosing by liters and not measuring diameter (liters are an estimate, diameter is compatibility).
- Leaving too large an opening – heat escapes and cooking becomes harder.
Quick tip: tell us what cookware you want to use on the stove (diameter or model) and your stove opening size, and we will quickly recommend the right ring set and type (cast iron or steel).
