Description

Steam Valve for UTEHO Autoclave

UTEHO · Spare part for autoclaves

Type
Steam valve
Material
Stainless steel
Compatibility
UTEH / A
Working pressure
~1 atm

Steam Valve for UTEHO Autoclave is an accessory for operating the autoclave in steam mode. It helps automatically release the heated air from the autoclave and then keep only hot steam inside.

The valve made of stainless steel is suitable for UTEH and A series autoclaves that have a ball valve in the standard configuration. This valve is not suitable for CHE series autoclaves. The ball valve on which this valve is installed must always remain open during operation.

Up to approximately 90°C, the valve remains open and releases excess air. After that, it closes and the pressure begins to rise. At 120°C, the working pressure in steam mode is about 1 atm, which significantly reduces the load on the autoclave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the steam valve also be used in water mode?
No, the steam valve is designed only for operation in steam mode. For water mode, a nipple must be installed instead of the steam valve.
If the water level in the autoclave is 8-10 cm and the bottom of the jars is partly in the water, is that acceptable?
Yes, that is acceptable. The bottom of the jar may be in the water – this is not critical and does not affect the process.
Can a hose be connected to the steam valve to divert hot air and steam, and can it be installed horizontally?
No, connecting a hose is not possible and not necessary. The valve also must not be installed horizontally – it must be kept strictly vertical, which is very important for correct operation.
If a recipe in water mode requires 40 minutes at 110°C, will it be 80 minutes at 120°C in steam mode?
Yes, that is correct. In steam mode, the holding time is approximately twice as long.
How does steam mode affect the heating element service life, and should citric acid be added to the water?
Steam mode does not affect the heating element service life – it is the same in both steam and water mode. Citric acid is recommended in any mode if you have hard water, as it helps protect the heating element.
Is it possible to adjust the temperature and sterilization time during autoclaving?
Yes, it is possible.
If the water is purified by reverse osmosis and there is no limescale, is it still necessary to add citric acid?
If purified water is used, adding citric acid is no longer necessary.
Can an A series gas autoclave be used in steam mode, and how much water should be added?
Yes, steam mode can also be used with an A series gas autoclave. Water must be added as described in the manual. Even if the bottom row of jars is partly in the water, this is acceptable and does not affect the result.
Can an autoclave with a steam valve also be heated electrically?
Yes, it does not matter – it can be heated both over fire and with electricity.
Is a 2 kW heating element powerful enough for steam mode?
Yes, 2 kW is completely sufficient.
