Uzbek cast iron kazan 6 L with lid is a traditional cooking vessel handmade by Uzbek craftsmen and suitable for use at home and outdoors. This Uzbek cast iron kazan 6 l with lid is made of 100% cast iron and features thick walls, a solid construction and an aluminium lid included in the set.

Cast iron heats gradually, distributes heat evenly throughout the cookware and retains temperature for a long time. This allows food to cook evenly and stay warm even after the heat has been reduced. The Uzbek cast iron kazan 6 l with lid is especially suitable for plov, but it can also be used for soups, stews, meat, vegetables, sauces, goulash, roasts and compotes.

This model has a flat outer bottom, also known as a pedestal base, which allows the kazan to stand securely on a suitable flat cooking surface. The traditional spherical inner shape is preserved, helping heat distribute evenly across the bottom and walls of the kazan.

The inner surface of the kazan is fully polished, making it smoother and easier to use and maintain. The kazan has already been heat-treated during production and prepared for use. It does not contain technical grease or technical oil.

A complete re-seasoning is not required before the first use. It is only recommended to heat a small amount of vegetable oil to additionally clean the surface of possible production dust and prepare the kazan for its first cooking session.

Preparation before first use

Rinse the kazan

Rinse with warm water without dishwashing detergent and dry completely.

Heat the oil

Add a small amount of vegetable oil and heat over moderate heat for 20–25 minutes.

Discard the used oil

After cooling, pour out the oil and do not use it for food. If desired, an onion may be fried in the oil.

What should be done if rust appears?

Restoring the protective layer

Small rust spots do not mean that the kazan is damaged. Cast iron may begin to rust if it remains in a damp environment for a long time or is not dried completely.

Remove the rust with a firm sponge, brush or fine abrasive.
Rinse the kazan with warm water.
Dry completely.
Apply a thin layer of vegetable oil.
Gently heat the kazan to restore the protective layer.
