Uzbek Cast Iron Kazan 225 L is a traditional cooking vessel handcrafted by Uzbek craftsmen. It is designed for preparing large quantities of food for family celebrations, events, picnics, camping, and outdoor recreation.

The kazan is made of 100% cast iron, has a massive construction, and approximately 18 mm thick walls. Cast iron heats up gradually, distributes heat evenly throughout the vessel, and retains temperature for a long time. As a result, food cooks evenly and stays warm even after the heat is reduced.

Uzbek Cast Iron Kazan 225 L is especially suitable for cooking traditional pilaf, but it can also be used to prepare shurpa, soups, stews, meat, vegetables, goulash, sauces, roasts, and other dishes.

This model has a round outer base and a traditional spherical inner shape. This construction helps concentrate and distribute heat evenly across the bottom and walls of the kazan. Use requires a suitable kazan stove, tripod, or stable stand.

The inner surface of the kazan is fully polished, making it smoother and easier to use and maintain. The kazan is already pre-seasoned at the factory and prepared for use. There is no technical grease or technical oil inside.

Before the first cooking, full re-seasoning is not required. It is recommended only to heat a small amount of vegetable oil to additionally clean the surface from possible manufacturing dust and prepare the kazan for first use.

Uzbek Cast Iron Kazan 225 L is suitable for approximately 250—400 people. Depending on the type of dish and portion size, it can prepare approximately 350-500 portions of food.

Preparation Before First Use

Rinse the Kazan
Rinse with warm water without dishwashing detergent and dry completely.

Heat the Oil
Pour in a small amount of vegetable oil and heat over moderate heat for 20-25 minutes.

Pour Out the Used Oil
After cooling, pour out the oil and do not use it for food. If desired, an onion can be fried in the oil.
Important: this is not re-seasoning of the kazan. The kazan has already been seasoned during production. This procedure helps remove possible manufacturing dust and prepare the kazan for first cooking.

Care and Storage

What to Do if Rust Appears?

Restoring the Protective Layer

Small rust spots do not mean that the kazan is damaged. Cast iron can start to rust if it remains in a humid environment for a long time or is not completely dried after washing.

  1. Remove rust with a firm sponge, brush, or fine abrasive material.
  2. Rinse the kazan with warm water.
  3. Dry completely.
  4. Apply a thin layer of vegetable oil.
  5. Heat the kazan slightly to restore the protective layer.
